History of Macedon 

Macedon in Northern Greece had coastal settlements by Greeks, but the interior was occupied by various indigenous tribes that slowly became Hellenized, the capitol was Aigai. Macedon was of little importance until Alexander I (495 - 454 BC) extended its wealth and territories.
